Seeing the doctor (IV) – After making an online appointment

November, 19, 2008

Before seeing the doctor:
If you’ve already made an online appointment, go to the doctor’s office directly and wait outside the room until the electric board shows your appointment (waiting) number.

While seeing the doctor:
When you enter the doctor’s office, a nurse will ask for your health insurance card. When you are finished seeing the doctor, a nurse will ask you to wait a minute to get the printed notes. You will have at least one note which will show you the fee that you should pay and the medicine pick-up number. She will return your health insurance card as well.

After seeing the doctor:
Bring the notes to registration & cashier counter to pay the fee and then go to the medicine pick-up counter to get your medicine. After you pay, you will have a receipt from the clerk. (Please keep the receipt.) The clerk will stamp on the note with the medicine pick-up number on it. When the electric board at the medicine pick-up counter shows your number, please bring the stamped note with your pick-up number on it and your health insurance card to get your medicine.

Although you will get your medicine pick-up number before you pay the fee, if you don’t pay the fee and have the note be stamped, the pharmacist won’t give you your medicine.

Seeing the doctor(II) -First time to visit a hospital / drop in visit

November, 12, 2008

If it’s your first time to go to a hospital (or clinic), you have to fill out a form at the registration & cashier counter for them to know your basic personal information such as your birth, contact information, medicine allergy, ect.

(The order of the expressions below is English, Chinese ,and then Pinyin, the number means the tone)
You can say ” This is my first time here”
我是第一次來
wo3 shi4 de4 yi ci4 lai2
Then, the clerk will give you a form to fill out.

However, if you are not sure how to fill out the form in Chinese, you can ask the clerk to help you fill out the form by showing your ARC card which has your basic information in Chinese on.

You can say “Could you help me to fill out? Because I don’t know much to write Chinese”.
可以請你幫我填嗎?因為我不太會寫中文。
ke yi3 qing3 ni3 bang wo3 tian2 ma? Yin wei2 wo3 bu2 tai4 hui4 xie3 zhong wen2

After your first time visiting the hospital, you will have a medical record number from the hospital and you can make an online or on-the-spot appointment for next time (if you have) No matter which hospital or clinic you go, you can’t make an appointment if it’s your first time there and besides you have to fill out a form and wait to see the doctor.

If you have been to the hospital and want to make an appointment in person, the procedure for seeing the doctor will be different from making online appointment only at the beginning. Instead going to the doctor’s office directly, you have to make an on-the-spot appointment at the registration & cashier counter. (If it’s your first time, you have to fill out the form first.) The clerk will ask you for your health insurance card and then ask what clinic you want to see and date. She/he will print a note for you that will indicate the date, the doctor’s office and your appointment number. Then, follow the same procedures mentioned in the article of Seeing the doctor (III)- after making an online appointment to see the doctor and get your medicine.

scooter insurance

September, 9, 2008

First, the meaning of the scooter insurance should be the compulsory scooter insurance for people who got hurt whn car accident happened. The compulsory scooter insurance is NOT for you and your scooter. For example, if Mr. Apple has an car accident and hit  Miss Bee and she got hurt. After the police’s investigation, it’s Mr. Apple’s fault. He can contact his insurance company to get Miss Bee some reimbursement.

Then, another insurance which is usually put in the scooter insurance bill is the driver’s safety insurance. This is for the driver which means you, the driver. Mostly there will be two options for you in the scooter insurance bill and they are the basic one: the scooter insurance and the combined one: the scooter insurance + driver’s safety insurance.

Moreover, since it’s the “compulsory” scooter insurance, according to laws, if you don’t have the scooter insurance, you have to be careful of the police and also be a safe driver, or you will be fined $1,500 to $30,000.( This law is usually written on the cover of insurance bill to push people to pay the insurance. Haha!! )

It will ask you to enter your ID number on ARC card and the date of birth (for example:1995/01/02–you enter 840102). Next, select which DMV unit. Because your scooter is registered in Yilan,  choose the third choice-台北區監理所(北基宜花)  Then, press “確定”. The page will show you your traiffic violation.

If the page didn’t show you anything, then congradulations!!! : )
